Girlfriend, The Truth That No One Will Tell You
I have had an interesting life having been born in one country and had a life in another, both with extremely different cultures, meaning that my personality has been modelled in so many ways by the different cultural contexts in which I have had the privilege of living in.
Some people find me rather different in comparison to where “I came from” and I laugh out loud because I must explain that I am a product of more than one cultural context. No issue, I know, and I love that I am this way and as a result, the separation between tribes and nationalities a blur in my eyes. This then takes me to my thoughts for the day:
In the many years I have lived, I have met many women that have had and continue to have a profound impact on my life, I have noticed these three things that I have lived by ever since.
• We are all amazingly different.
• I am an awesome person and so are other women.
• There is no woman who is better than another.
That means that we are so inherently different and there is simply no metric that can completely satisfy a comparison between one person to another.
Therefore, there is no room to keep comparing oneself to another, the only question am going to ask myself is who am I really? And then fall in love with that list of things that make me who I am.
Second, we are not in competition with each other, we must build each other and support each other’s dreams no matter what.
Lastly, we should share with each other what we know, we do not withhold and instead we give and give and the more we do, the more we get.
So today, have you complemented a friend? Have you encouraged a friend? Have you shared that business idea? Have you commended her for a job well done?
Yes, she got that new job
Yes, her business is doing great
Yes, she got married
Yes, she had a baby
Yes, she completed that master’s degree
Yes, she is very smart this morning
Today and every other day choose to celebrate other women unconditionally and difficult as it might be, courage and intention are two things that we must perfect.
With love,
